Weekend Outing: Madame Tussands New York

Tourist alert! Yes, I’ve been here for a few years now but I’m still a tourist. A few weeks ago one of my closest friends came to see me. Naturally we went to Times Square to fend off grabby costumed characters and bare chested ladies to check out the wax museum.

Tickets are purchased on the ground floor and then an escort takes you up several stories high by elevator. Here’s a shot I took while the elevator went up, up, and up.

The venue contains three floors of wax figures of people well known in pop culture, history, and politics. The exhibits are set up to encourage interaction. Only PG 13 interaction, nothing like what happened with the Nicki Minaj figure in Vegas.

The line by the wax figures of Barack and Michelle Obama were super long and you couldn’t get a good pic. There was an employee there taking pics which I’m sure cost too much for no good reason. So I took this picture from afar and went on about my business.

This was one of the attractions. I’ve never been a Bond fan so I only recognized the one on the end. The most recent blond Bond was outside on the sidewalk. I hope he didn’t melt.

Now to my favorite part: the Marvel Avengers.

What made this cool for me was the short 4D film which was unexpectedly fun and realistic. If you go don’t wear anything you don’t mind getting wet.

Check out the Madame Tussands website for more information. Take the 1, 2, 3, N, Q, or R trains to Times Square to get there.  Buy your tickets online in advance. It will save you money!
